Just returned from the annual Eco-Weekend at Camp Oty Okwa, and must report that a wonderful time was had by all in spite of torrential rain on Friday night! The classes and hikes were terrific, and the program leaders exceeded all expectations.
Our Saturday night program from the Columbus Zoo let us get up close and personal with lots of fascinating bird visitors, including the Orion, the Eurasion Eagle Owl, and Maris, the Crested Crane. The number of kids and young families attending was very encouraging, but we still have room for more participants of all ages, so be sure to put this on your calendar for the first weekend of May, 2010!
Also, on a more personal note, I will be taking my team out to do the CAS Birdathon on May 15 and need sponsors! You can pledge any amount per species we track down in 10 hours, or just pledge a lump sum.
We usually manage to ferret out about 65 different species, so a ten-cent pledge would rack up $6.50 for the CAS Education programs and the Grange Audubon Center. E-mail me at pdemarias@yahoo.com if you can support the cause! And THANKS!
